We are happy to announce that we have upgraded the WordPress and Joomla web applications to their latest stable versions - WordPress 3.4.2 and Joomla - 2.5.8 , accordingly.

We are considering to upgrade to Joomla 3.0 as soon as it becomes officially stable (now it is only recommended for developers and early adopters).

Some other software upgrades to the Web Applications Installer are on the way too, so please stay tuned for our updates on this matter.

What is memcached?

  If you have a database-dependent database or application, and if your database calls tend to slow up the performance, this can be frustrating for the visitors/users of your website or application.

Finding a solution can usually take time but we have the solution ready and waiting for you within the Hepsia Control Panel: Memcached.

Memcached is a simple yet powerful distributed memory object caching system. It works by storing data caches and objects in the server's RAM, where they are more quickly accessible than having to wait for the database to return them, which is usually the case in any regular website. This delay in delivering the information comes from the added time required by the request to travel through the network to reach the database server plus the time said server takes to proces the request and finally, transmit the information back to your website's server.

The Memcached API is available for the majority of modern popular programming languages and this system is used even by some of the most traffic heavy sites such as YouTube, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter. It is also supported by some popular CMSs such as Drupal, Joomla, and WordPress.

  As many of you have probably noticed already we are experiencing a complete phone outage due to our telephone service provider being located in NYC (hurricane Sandy has cut off all power to the location where our provider is located).

Update 1:

Our engineers are currently on standby, awaiting for an update from NYC regarding Wall St Power Grid. Engineers will be deployed to restore services as soon as it is safe for them to work.

November 2012: Power has been restored to Lower Manhattan and the phone lines are back in business!

You can find such tools in the Advanced section of your Hepsia Control Panel. Among them we recommend Node.js software.

Node.js empowers developers, no matter if they are experts or not, to build scalable network programs and websites. It's based on Google V8 JavaScript engine and the libUV. Node.js uses an event-driven, non-blocking I/O model that makes it lightweight and efficient, perfect for data-intensive real-time applications that run across distributed devices.
