How to restore a daily backup from your Control Panel

Dear Customers,

Following up from our previous announcement, we want to explain step-by-step the procedure to restore one of your backups from your control panel.

For quick access to the backup functionality, we have added a shortcut icon to the home page of the Control Panel:

backup - step 1

You can restore a backup from several places in your Control Panel. In the Hosted Domains section, you will find the backup option in the Actions column, as shown below:

backup - step 2

Alternatively, you can right-click a folder/file and select Restore from the drop-down menu:

backup - step 3

In the File Manager, you can also restore a backup by right-clicking the desired folder/file:

backup - step 4

Alternatively, you can click on the Restore button in the Actions toolbar above the table:

backup - step 5

Whichever option you choose, you will see a popup window prompting you to select which date and hour you want to restore a backup from:

backup - step 6

When restoring a backup, you will be asked whether you want us to keep a copy of the original folder/file. The newly restored folder/file will take the original folder/file name, while the latter will be labelled as [archive] and will include the date and time of the executed backup:

backup - step 7
Here is how to access all the available backups associated with your account:

To access the whole backup archive of your hosting account, click on the folder icon that is located right next to the home icon above the File Manager table:

backup - step 8

In there, click on the Backup folder that is at the top of the list:

backup - step 9

You will be taken to the email and website file backups associated with your account:

backup - step 10

There you will see a list of all the backups of your content arranged by date and time:

backup - step 11

To restore a backup from here, simply select a file/folder and download it to your computer:

backup - step 12

That’s it in a nutshell. You will now have full control over your content in critical moments and will be able to restore it with a click from within the Control Panel instead of waiting for our administrators to respond.

Free website migration assistance service to our servers

Dear Customers,

As of today we have added another service to our hosting offers: Website migration assistance!

We know that moving to a new hosting provider could be a daunting process and that it may actually disuade many people from moving their site to a better hosting provider.

We are now able to address this problem by dedicating human and technical resources to the process of moving your web files, databases and emails over to our platform in a hassle free and time saving way.

What is website migration and what does it include?
Website migration is a free service (to a certain extent) where we will migrate your site(s) to our high-end cloud hosting platform without you having to do much on your end.
We know from experience that changing hosting providers can lead to a loss of information, unwanted downtime and lots of negative emotions. That is why our experienced, highly trained administration team will make sure your sites will work exactly as they did on their old hosting platform. Our administrators are well versed in migrating all sorts of websites based on popular web applications such as WordPress, Joomla as well as all types of custom built websites based on the LAMP (short for Linux-Apache-MySQL-PHP) platform.
How long does it take for a website to be migrated over to us?
We cannot estimate the exact time it would take because there are many variables affecting the duration of a site transfer. These include: the size of the web files and databases, the physical location of the current host’s server, the complexity of the transferred website(s), the current workload of our Website Migration Department, etc. However, we will do our best to migrate your site within 48h and in some cases 24h (if the content is not large).
What information will you need to provide to our Website Migration Department?
We will need the login details for the Control Panel used by your old hosting provider and the website’s name (domain name).
How do we address sensitive information?
Our Privacy Policy is an inseparable part of the contract we/you have with you. We are committed to protecting the security of the personal information collected from you. To do so, we use technical security measures to prevent the loss, misuse, alternation or unauthorized disclosure of the information that is under our control. We use security measures, including, but not limited to: physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information that we collect online. When we ask customers or users to provide financial information (such as credit card numbers), this data is protected using the Secure Sockets Layer (“SSL”) technology.
Is there any downtime for transferred websites?
While we migrate a website, it will be available in both your hosting account with us and in your account with the old hosting provider. Once the migration has been completed, we will make sure that everything is working properly and that data integrity has not been compromised. Then you will be informed that the migration is over. After that, we will instruct you about how to move the domain name over to your new hosting account with us. Therefore it should be virtually no downtime for your sites while they are transferred over.
What hosting platforms can we migrate from?
We can migrate your website(s) from any hosting provider or any hosting platform that is Linux-based, as long as we can get access to their Control Panel and as long as FTP access is available. The only websites we cannot transfer are mainly the ones based on closed-source website building software, such as: Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square and Mr Site.

Website migration is available with the following products:

  • Shared hosting services: depending on your plan we may migrate free of charge either 1 website, up to 15 cPanel accounts (1 website per account only; full backups including e-mails) or up to 5 websites (website files & MySQL databases only).
  • Semi-dedicated servers: We will migrate free of charge up to 25 cPanel accounts (1 website per account only; full backups including e-mails) or up to 10 websites (website files & MySQL databases only).
  • For Virtual Private Servers and Dedicated Servers, we can migrate a larger number of websites.
  • For data migration cases not described above, an hourly fee of 60.00 USD will apply.

In our next post we’ll explain in detail how the migration of cPanel managed websites is carried out.

Kind Regards,
Web Hosting team

Daily backups now in your Control Panel

Dear Customers,

We have added a daily backups option to your Control Panel.

Now you can restore a backup of your site contents with just a click from the Domain or File Manager, without needing to wait for our administrators to do this for you.

Here is how you can access the restore backup option.

In the Domain Manager:
  1. Right click on a domain/subdomain and select 'Restore' from the context menu
  2. Or click on the 'Restore' icon in the Actions column next to a selected file/folder.
In the File Manager:
  1. Right click on a file/folder and select 'Restore' from the context menu
  2. Or click on the 'Restore' button in the Actions bar above the table.

We make a few backups per day and keep all backups from the last 10 days.

When restoring a backup, you can specify whether you want us to keep a copy of your original content, just in case.

Please note that we store all of your content backups on a separate server so you will not need to worry that your disk space usage is running high.

You can also find a list of all stored backups in the File Manager. Just follow the yellow folder that is located right next to the home icon above the table and locate the backup you need.

We believe this new Control Panel option will help you save time and gain full control over your site contents.

Web Hosting team
